Nitrofurantoin / Macrobid / Macrodantin

Macrobid and Macrodantin are not sold in Spain; the only nitrofurantoin sold is Furantoína (50 mg tablets and oral suspension), which needs a prescription. Furantoína is not a direct equivalent to Macrobid 100 mg modified-release capsules or Macrodantin macrocrystal capsules, as it is a standard 50 mg tablet. Spain licenses it only for short courses of acute cystitis in women and girls, not for prevention or for men; a doctor decides what is suitable.
